FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS IT EXACTLY?
Escape Z-Lab is an escape room experience where you will be locked inside a room for a designated amount of time whilst you and your team try to figure out how to escape. The rooms contain clues, locked items and hidden secrets. Anything that’s not screwed, glued or bolted down can be moved and may be an integral part in your quest to escape and survive.
IS IT LIKE A NORMAL ‘PARK OF THE DEAD’ EXPERIENCE?
No, this is a stand-alone experience that takes place indoors only. It will contain the ‘essence’ of what makes Park of the Dead special, but in its unique own way.
IS IT LIKE A HAUNTED HOUSE?
NO! This is an Escape Room game and is very different than a haunted house.
IS IT SCARY?
The game is ‘horror’ themed but its not intended to be scary. It could possibly be in places… it just depends how scared you get. We have put a lot of time and effort in to creating a game that is well thought out, fun and possibly a bit scary.
We do want you to enjoy the experience, honestly!!
WILL I BE PHYSICALLY RESTRAINED?
Yes, part of the game will mean you will be ‘lightly’ restrained for a very brief time, but you can request removal of the restraints if you feel uncomfortable.
ARE THERE ACTORS IN THE ROOMS.
Yes, there will be actors inside and outside the rooms but not all the time. The actors may possibly touch you during the game, but any malicious touching of the actors or being disrespectful (verbal or physical) within the game will result in immediate eviction and the game will stop.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE GAME?
You have 1 hour to escape the room. The timer starts once you enter, but expect to be here for up to 1hr 30min
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN PLAY AT ONCE?
Maximum group size is 6 people, minimum is 4.
ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS?
We have currently classed this as an over 18 event, not because its scary, but we feel its currently unsuitable for those under 18. We can make exceptions for those that are over 16, as long as an immediate parent is present. Photographic ID may be required.
WHERE ABOUTS IS IT?
Its located in Ryde on the isle of Wight, but the exact location is secret. You will be informed where to go once you have booked.
WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO ARRIVE?
We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your start time.
DO NOT BE LATE. If you do arrive late you will miss out on the game and we will be unable to issue a refund.
CAN I USE MY PHONE, TAKE PHOTOS OR VIDEO?
No mobile phones or cameras are allowed inside the room. We ask you to either leave them in your car or at home. We do have lockers on site for you to put them in if you do bring them. This is not because we are being spoil sports, but we want to make the game as realistic as possible. The rooms are being monitored at all times, and if we see anyone using a phone or camera, we will ‘pause’ the game and ask them to place it in the locker until it finishes.
A photo opportunity will be available at the end.
I NEED TO RESCHEDULE MY RESERVATION!
If you need to reschedule, you MUST contact us AT LEAST 7 days before your reservation. If you contact us after this period, or if your booking was created within this period, we may NOT be able to reschedule your booking. Please be aware of this before booking your reservation with us.
I WOULD LIKE TO CANCEL MY RESERVATION FOR A REFUND.
Unfortunately we have a strict NO CANCELLATION/NO REFUND policy. All sales are final and non refundable regardless of whether you show up for your reservation or the reasoning for you not being able to make it. Please be aware of this before booking your reservation with us.
However, if you are unable to make it, you can reschedule or you could give the gift to someone else as an early birthday present??
WILL I ACTUALLY BE LOCKED IN THE ROOM?
The exit will appear locked immediately after the game begins, however any member of your team may say the ‘safe word’ and we will open the door so that you can exit the room safely. At no point will you actually be ‘locked’ in a room.
You will be monitored throughout the whole game via cctv and audio devices, and at any time you want it to exit, then just say so… but please make sure this is what you want, as exiting the game means you cannot re-enter.
Safety is paramount, and any thing that appears ‘locked’ can easily be opened by us in seconds. You’ll just have to trust us!!
I’M CLAUSTROPHOBIC, CAN I PLAY?
Hard to say. The game is designed to make you feel trapped, but if you find it too uncomfortable then all you have to do is say the ‘safe word’ and we will open the door. The staff will always be on hand to help if needed.
CAN I PLAY IF I’M PREGNANT?
There are elements that may frighten or startle you and your friends, and at times it will be dark and possibly uncomfortable. We would strongly recommend that if you are pregnant that you sit this one out, but it is up to your discretion. If you do decide to visit us while pregnant, please make sure you tell us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate.
DO I HAVE TO BOOK IN ADVANCE OR CAN I PAY WHEN I GET THERE?
The ‘GAME’ price needs to be paid for at the time of booking. The ‘per person’ price is just for your information only. We cannot confirm your booking until it has been paid for in full.
ARE THE ROOMS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
Unfortunately our current game room is not suitable due to the existing layout of the room and size of the doors frames. Hopefully in the future we will have an alternative location that will be suitable. Sorry.
